Abstract

The independent curriculum is a curriculum with various intracurricular learning with more optimal content so that students can deepen concepts and strengthen their competencies. In the learning process the teacher has the flexibility to choose teaching tools that can be adapted to the learning needs and interests of students. So that the learning model is very influential on the success of learning. The purpose of this research is to describe the problem-based learning model in the Merdeka curriculum at SMAN 4 Malang. The method used in this article is conceptual, by searching a lot of literature from relevant books and journals. In order to achieve this, educators are required to know what level of understanding and knowledge students have as initial capital before the learning process takes place. Education has a very important role for students, one of which is physical education and sports health (PJOK). PJOK has the goal of increasing cognitive, psychomotor and affective abilities. With the optimal learning of Health Sports Physical Education, the goals of sports and health physical education can be achieved. Therefore a learning model is needed that allows students to think critically, communicate and dare to express ideas in front of the class. In reality, the learning activities for sports and health physical education at SMAN 4 Malang are still centered on the teacher, resulting in one-way communication that causes students to be passive in learning. In the independent curriculum, one of the learning models is Problem-Based Learning (PBL) which is a learning method characterized by the existence of a problem reality as a context for students to learn critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and acquire knowledge
