Abstract

Modern live demands that everything is carried out practically, including exercise. Having no time is one of the classic reasons that is so often cited when someone need to exercise. Especially if the person does not have a lot of physical activity, people want to have a simple but effective exercise. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on the Body Mass Index (BMI) of women who have gone through menopause. This research is important, because most women who experience menopause gain a lot of weight and it is dangerous. It can causes various diseases such as cholesterol, heart attacks and obesity. The method of this research is a quasi-experimental study. To see the effect of HIIT on BMI of menopausal women. The data obtained will be processed quantitatively to see the effect of HIIT. The research is located in Padang, West Sumatra. The study population was menopausal women in Padang with a range of ages 50-60 years. The treatment was carried out 3 times a week for 5 months. The results showed that there were significant differences between the experimental group who carried out HIIT and the control group using only ordinary cardio such as a leisurely walk.
